Phil performs in a variety of musical contexts ranging from the real-time composition and dissection of form and melody in The Borrowed Time Trio, Wilson|Magnusson|Collings, and ReAssemble, to the rock stylings of Australian rock iconoclast Kim Salmon and legendary songwriter Mike Brady, and the linear and dexterous compositions of  composers Kate Neal and Alexander Schubert.

Phil Has toured with Ilbijerri Theatre Company's production of

 Jack Charles v The Crown since its inception and premier at the Melbourne International Arts Festival in 2010 which has since toured nationally and played seasons in England, Ireland, Canada, and America. 

The production has won the coveted Helpmann Award.

As well as co-leading the projects: The Borrowed Time Trio, Wilson|Magnusson|Collings, ReAssembleP.Two, and new trio The Red Triangle, Phil and has led and written for his own projects, namely the Phil Collings Trio, which performed at the Apollo Bay Music Festival on the back of the 2003 CD release of “Music Room – Phil Collings Trio”, and more recently Phil Collings - B which is in  currently in pre-production for their debut album "Night, of a Clear Day".

As a producer, Phil is artistic director and co-founder of record label Crackbell Records dedicated to new Australian music, and co-produced “Jack Charles V the Crown – Music from the Stage Production”  with Castlemaine based Label/Production company Filmharmonix.
